Brugal 1888 is one of the best-known rums on the international market,
originating in the Dominican Republic. The spirit’s main ingredient is
sugar cane molasses, and its characteristic taste is a result of at
least 12 years of maturation (first in ex-bourbon and then in ex-sherry
casks). Brugal 1888 owes its complexity to the unique, double-ageing
process. The spirit’s signature sweetness, along with notes of vanilla
and caramel is due to its time spent in American ex-bourbon casks. To
create perfect harmony, the drink spends years in Spanish ex-sherry oak
barrels, resulting in a dry taste, with a pleasant balance of citrus and
red fruits.
