INTRODUCTION

Orkney Island, situated off the north coast of Scotland, is home to the more than two hundred years old Highland Park distillery. The wild and windy island is the guardian of Viking traditions and culture: the memory of the warrior nation’s six-hundred-years-old occupation is carried in the blood of one third of the population and in the blood of the Highland Park distillery’s workers as well, who accompanied the birth of whiskey for generations. The warrior heritage and modern knowledge are combined in Highland Park’s 10-year-old Viking Scars citrus-flavored and spicy single malt, a whisky containing only barley malt; along with Highland Park’s 12-year-old Viking Honor fruity-spicy single malt whiskey.
