Sustainability in practice

We gradually incorporate sustainability and social responsibility into each fields of our business.
We pay special attention to three of the six main Group sustainability focus areas:

Corporate sustainability and social responsibility are indispensable elements of the corporate culture of Coca‑Cola HBC. Our approach aims at maintaining business success and value creation for the long run while being in line with our sense of responsibility for our society and environment, and our basic values.

Our sustainability goals are closely connected to our business goals and are incorporated in our general strategy, while they focus on our people, those who ensure sustainable growth for Coca‑Cola HBC.

As a member of the Coca‑Cola Hellenic Group, we contribute to the fulfilment of many Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) through our initiatives and key agenda.

Our sustainability targets for 2022 have been set in line with the Group’s guidelines and we also took into consideration our previous year’s performance and our portfolio and volume plans. 
Together with our stakeholders, we review our key issues every year.

At Coca‑Cola HBC Hungary, we continuously monitor changes in our environment that has an impact on our business. We listen to the feedbacks of our stakeholders and communities which we have an impact on.

For the third year in row, climate change, and packaging and waste management have been the primary materiality issues for Coca-Cola HBC.

In line with GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) guidance, we identify those social, economical and environmental topics as key issues which have an impact on our business operation or are of utmost importance for our external and internal stakeholders. The regularly conducted materiality survey ensures that we give an account of our sustainability performance in the most relevant and important areas.

It is a core element of our sustainability activities that we maintain a continuous dialogue and partnership with our stakeholders.

At Coca‑Cola HBC Hungary, we look proactively for the opportunities to involve the individuals and organisations impacted by our activities directly or indirectly into our operation. We identify our stakeholders in accordance with our sustainability strategy.

Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI)

Coca‑Cola HBC is the world sustainability leader in the beverage industry, topping the Dow Jones World and Europe Sustainability Indexes for beverage companies in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2019 and 2022 as well. We’ve also been included in the DJSI every year since 2008 – recognition of our focus on continuously improving our sustainability performance. Launched in 1999, the DJSI is considered a global benchmark for corporate sustainability.

RobecoSAM

Coca‑Cola HBC has been named “Industry Leader – the top-performing company in the beverage sector” – and awarded a Gold Class distinction in RobecoSAM’s annual Corporate Sustainability Assessment. RobecoSAM is a specialist in sustainability investing. The organisation's Corporate Sustainability Assessment focuses on examining financially material factors that impact a company’s core business value drivers.

Coca‑Cola HBC has been continuously listed on the FTSE4Good Index since 2001. This series of indices is designed to measure the performance of companies listed on the London Stock Exchange that demonstrate strong environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices.

Vigeo

Vigeo has rated Coca‑Cola HBC since 2004; in 2015 we were also a constituent of the Vigeo Europe Top 120 Index. The Vigeo Group supplies analysis to asset managers, assessing companies' performance in sustainable development and social responsibility.

Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Indices

In 2015, CDP awarded Coca‑Cola HBC a “B” rating. CDP is a global not-for-profit organisation which provides a natural capital disclosure system through which companies report, manage and share vital environmental information.

Forum ETHIBEL

We have been included in the Ethibel “EXCELLENCE Investment Register” since 2007. Forum ETHIBEL is an independent agency that advises banks and brokers on socially responsible investments, reviewing companies worldwide on their economic, social and environmental performance. ETHIBEL looks for companies that are socially responsible entrepreneurship trendsetters in their sector and region.

Coca‑Cola HBC AG has the highest intangible value assessment (IVA) rating - “AAA” - and is ranked in the top 18% in the industry.

MSCI Inc. provides investment decision support tools to investors globally, including indexes, ESG data and research.
