The Macallan presents TIME : SPACE collection

The Macallan celebrates 200 years of history with two exceptional whiskies that combine tradition and innovation. The first edition, TIME : SPACE, comes in a special two-chamber bottle: one chamber containing The Macallan's oldest whisky to date, aged 84, and the other containing the first single malt produced in the brand's new distillery. The second edition, TIME : SPACE Mastery, is a complex single malt spanning 200 years of history and reflecting The Macallan's commitment to craftsmanship and respect for nature.

Only 200 of these unparallel whisky products were made, one for each year of The Macallan's history. The two-chamber TIME: SPACE bottle symbolizes the meeting of past and future. One chamber houses whisky from the 1940s vintage, which evokes the past, while the central chamber houses whisky from the 2018 vintage, symbolizing the future. The bottle is housed in a masterfully crafted oak sculpture that accentuates the whiskey's natural color. The alternating layers of the sculpture are made of American and European oak, reflecting The Macallan's commitment to sherry-aged oak barrels.

The TIME : SPACE Mastery limited edition whisky was unveiled in Hungary on November 28, 2024 at an exclusive event at the Gábor Miklós Szőke Studio. A special feature of the occasion was that two of the only 27 bottles available in the country were opened on this evening, and invited partners had the opportunity to taste this extraordinary, rare whisky.

The exclusive event was opened by Timea Berki, Coffee & Premium Spirits Business Director of Coca-Cola HBC Hungary, which distributes The Macallan brand exclusively in the country, and the whiskies were introduced by Anna Metaxas, Regional Brand Ambassador of The Macallan.

Tasting Notes

TIME: SPACE

1940’s vintage | 84 years old

Scent: Ginger, sticky dates and leather coated with dark chocolate meet the notes of antique oak and delicate, aromatic peat and ground coffee.

Taste: Toasted pineapple and baked peaches lead the notes of crystallized ginger, anise, blackberry jam and sweet smoky wood. The rich resinous flavors remain in the mouth for a long time, accompanied by caramelized sugar.

Finish: Extremely long finish with notes of dark chocolate and toasted oak.

Alcohol content: 43,4%

2018-as évjárat | 5 years old

Scent: Lively notes of fresh green apple and ripe pear, followed by rich sticky caramel, honey, vanilla cream and soft cinnamon spices.

Taste: Golden raisins and baked apples are transformed into buttered pastries, sprinkled with powdered sugar. Subtle notes of lemon and lime follow, paired with vanilla shortcrust dough.

Finish: Medium length, creamy, with a sweet oak.

Alcohol content: 54,9%

TIME: SPACE Mastery

Scent: Rich Medjool dates, sweet baked figs and milk chocolate, delicious honey and tropical fruits like dried mango and ripe papaya, all in a complex sweet oak mantle.

Taste: Intense sweetness with dried fruits soaked in sherry, orange jam and honeycomb. Delicate spicy notes, accompanied by ginger and cinnamon.

Finish: Long-lasting caramelized pineapple and creamy vanilla flavors that are subtly balanced by the flavors of dark chocolate and coffee.
