We aim for openness, fostering partnership, and mutual respect with our broader communities wherever we work, live and market our products.
Our mission requires us to invest in local communities and improve their quality of life. This is why we have integrated corporate responsibility and sustainability into our business. We aim to operate in a responsible way by engaging with stakeholders and communities to support their sustainable development.
We are closely connected to the lives and livelihood of local communities. It is of key importance to us that our communities should prosper economically and grow continuously. We not only contribute to their economic success as an employer, but also through the newly-created and existing jobs available at our partners.
Worldwide, as in Hungary, at the bottling plants of Coca‑Cola HBC we employ a local workforce; pay taxes locally; order products, services and production equipment from local suppliers; as well as support local community programmes.
Beyond our economic impact, we have also invested significantly in community programmes suited to local needs. In partnership with local leaders, businesses and governments we evaluate the needs and desires of our communities. Our partnerships and programmes based on these evaluations greatly contribute to the prosperity of our immediate surroundings as the social responsibility of our company extends beyond the market and the workplace into the lives of communities.
Coca‑Cola Testébresztő (Wake Your Body) is Coca‑Cola HBC Hungary's active lifestyle programme, which has been supporting recreational sports and active lifestyles since 2005.
For more than 10 years, we have encouraged over 3 million of our fellow citizens to live a more active life. We have spent over HUF 1 billion on shaping positive attitudes towards active lifestyles. In 2016, our company began its support for the largest recreational activity programme in the country, “Challenge Day”.
On 1 June 2005, The Coca‑Cola Company and Coca‑Cola HBC signed a partnership agreement with the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR). Under the agreement, we assumed responsibility for protecting the Danube in three areas.
As part of our responsibility, we have been supporting and taking part in several water stewardship initiatives, including international Danube Day, the Danube Box educational package and a large-scale habitat restoration project for Szabadság-sziget (Liberty Island) at Mohács.
Our corporate volunteer programme
Volunteering is a strategic priority in our approach to CSR. We created this programme with the intention of taking an active part in the lives of our communities.
We mostly take part in ecological, wetland-related, and active lifestyle programmes.
Our corporate volunteer programme is open to all our employees; anyone can join or even initiate activities.
Partnership with the Hungarian Red Cross
As a responsible company, we consider helping people and communities in need important. Working with our strategic partner, the Hungarian Red Cross, we assist people in need and those working on averting catastrophes. This was the case during the sudden snowfall and flooding in 2013. In partnership with the local subsidiary of The Coca‑Cola Company, we also support first aid services on the beaches of Lake Balaton.
